Video - Places - Oleron

The Second Largest French Island

The Island of Oleron (Île d'Oléron) is the second largest French island after Corsica with an area of about 175 km2, and is located only 3 kilometres off the Atlantic coast of France.

A toll-free bridge connects the island to the mainland.

In 1160 Eleanor of Aquitaine introduced here the first 'maritime' or 'admiralty' laws: the Rolls of Oleron.

Thanks for watching :-)
